Sunday (6/5/22) I rode my bicycle, and I went to a new park, Tebet Eco Park. At the end of May, Tebet Eco Park opened to the public, since May that park has become very popular for locals for recreation, or exercise.
I rode for 15 kilometers, and when I arrived, I felt that the park was too crowded, and the street in that area became crowded also. Most of the people who come to that park use motorcycles, or cars, which makes traffic a little bit stuck.
I think It is a little bit ironic, that they give the name Eco, but people who come to the park use a car, or motorcycle which is not eco-friendly. I understand that making people use public transportation takes time, especially in Jakarta we are a little bit car-oriented, but Jakarta’s public transportation is getting better day by day.
I parked my bicycle in the bicycle parking area, and I walked a little bit. This park is really cool, there’s a colorful bridge to connect that to the other park, but I can’t walk on that bridge, because the line is too long. I have no patience to wait for a long time.
Overall Tebet Eco Park is a good park, there are some playgrounds for kids, like seesaws, and swings. And the most important thing in the Instagram era, this park has an aesthetic bridge. It’s good for Instagram content.
After that, I just wanted to see another park in Jakarta, so I went to Taman Pntar Berlalu Lintas. In English maybe Taman Pintar Berlalu Lintas can be translated as Good on Traffic Regulations Park. This park is beside Tebet Eco Park. I don’t understand why they don’t unite those two parks.
Why this park called Taman Pintar Berlalu Lintas? I think because there is a banner to show you all of the traffic signs.
After that, I rode my bicycle to Taman Mataram. This park is located near Masjid Agung Al-Azhar. I parked my bicycle and walked to see this whole park. Nothing special about this park, but I just see something unique.
I see an unique cupboard, full of books, called Bookhive. So every visitor can read those books, get a book, or bring your book to that cupboard. After that I went to the toilet, and that toilet is clean.
So I rode my bike again, and stopped at Taman Langsat. For my personal choice this park is my favorite. This park is so quiet, and there are a lot of lotus at this park, the view is so relaxing. It’s enough to chill, and take some fresh oxygen.
But the downside of this park, they don’t have a bicycle parking area, that’s it. If I think about why only a few people came to this park, it’s because this park didn’t have a kids playgrounds. So parents didn’t come to this park, and instead came to another park which has a kids playground. But because the park is so quiet this park is a really good place to jog or date.
And my last stop is at Taman Puring. That park is located near Taman Puring Market. This park is so crowded. A lot of kids are playing here. Like I said before, the park will be crowded if there are kids playground.
Taman Puring also has a parkour area, they have a couple obstacles for parkour exercise. When I came to Taman Puring, I also saw a lot of people training parkour. I also trained parkour before. In 2012 until 2014 I tried parkour, it’s a fun sport, but really hard to do.
I am really happy to see a lot of parks, or public open spaces in Jakarta, and people are also excited to come to those parks. Before that I only thought Jakarta only had a big shopping mall, but I was wrong.
I think this city is getting better year by year, and I hope it will have a beneficial effect for everyone, especially for Jakartans.
